BEATFOR84 - May Singles Weekender III
From the ashes of the band Menace, the superb punk outfit who issued a number of brilliant singles in the late 70's, and a pair of singles with american vocalist Vermillion, Charlie Casey (Bass) Steve Tannett (Guitar) and Noel Martin (Drums) formed The Aces (the last three letters). Released only one single in their own label Etc Records; a stormy mod punk anthem, a near-perfect song that defined British power pop in the first '80s.
In 1986 O’Neill formed The Silencers, a band that reaped much greater commercial success than did the 'Printz although the Silencers' records weren't nearly as good as that of Fingerprintz.

Saw this band a few times in a Leeds cellar bar in about 78 and 79. They were great and I could never understand why they didn't go on to better things - they seemed like distant cousins of The Only Ones. A repost of mp3 or any other tracks by them would be brilliant.

Any chance of putting The Vye single back up. I used to watch them every week. great band. Played Leeds and Cock and Castle, Harrogate.
Dale moved to Harrogate and I seem to remember he was found dead in his bath. But don't quote me on that one. But that would explain why they never went on to bigger things.
